about

Debaser's junglist remix of Beenie Man and Luciano's cover of this Bob Marley classic had been ruling dance-floors as a dubplate for some time before Mashit gave it an official 12-inch vinyl release. The Toronto, Canada based ragga-junglist had already released a series of illustrious tunes on his Press Up, New Lick, and Jungle Royale labels, so it was an honor when he chose to release this classic with Mashit.

DJ C's remix oscillates between a booming halftime beat and some ferocious jungle breaks. The instrumental version is also featured here.

“Crazy Baldheads” message about resistance to oppressive treatment of black Jamaicans who “slaved for this country” by the white “baldheadeds” is as relevant today as it was in the 1970s when Marley originally recorded it.
